“First Sundays” Jazz Brunch Series at Symposium is back and joining us again, is the incredible Mark Filsinger duo!
Mark Filsinger is a versatile trumpet performer, composer, arranger, and clinician. Mark has performed and toured around the United States with various jazz, classical, and commercial ensembles including Bright Eyes, The Who, Weird Al Yankovic, Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Johnny Mathis, the Beach Boys, and The Temptations.
In 2022, The Mark Filsinger Chamber Big Band released its debut album, Groovin’ High on Buffalo Jazz Collective Records. The album features nine of Mark’s original arrangements and compositions. Mark also serves as Associate Professor of Music at SUNY Buffalo State.
Jared Tinkham is a jazz guitarist and educator based in Western New York. Born in Rochester, NY, Jared earned an Associate’s Degree in Music Performance from Monroe Community College and his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music Education at SUNY Buffalo State College.
Jared currently teaches multiple guitar ensembles, jazz ensemble, and music theory courses at the Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. Jared has had the privilege of studying with and accompanying many incredible artists, including Bob Sneider, Evan Drummond, Mark Filsinger, Anton Machleder, Steve Greene, Craig Snyder, Bobby Millitello, Michael McNeill, John Bacon Jr., Kelly Bucheger, Tim Clarke, Greg Millar, Trigger Gaston, and many more. Jared has performed in several jazz festivals in WNY, including the Lewiston Jazz Festival, Queen City Jazz Festival, Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the Nietzsche’s Jazz Festival.
In 2015, Jared was voted “Best Jazz Guitarist” by Jazz Buffalo. He currently resides in Buffalo, NY, where he gigs frequently and maintains a private guitar studio.
